Backstage with Matisyahu

A crew of our older BGC club members attended a Matisyahu concert last Thursday at Tarrytown Music Hall. Our Cultural Arts Director Dan Isenberg grew up with Matisyahu in White Plains, and is close friends with him and is also featured rapping on the second verse of his song “WP.” The show was incredible, and Dan brought the club members backstage after the show to meet Matisyahu and hang out. They even got to have a rap session over a Matisyahu beatbox. Check out a little footage of Nappi rapping off his Blackberry. Pretty fresh…

Boys To Men Visits 107.1FM The Peak

Our Boys To Men group paid a visit yesterday to 107.1 FM The Peak in White Plains for a behind the scenes tour of how a rock radio station operates. Our friend Ryan (pictured above with the boys) gave us an all access, exclusive look at all the equipment, brought us through the offices of the station, and explained to us how radio is broadcasted. Then, legendary DJ and on air personality Jimmy Fink, who has been DJ’ing on the radio for 40 years (WOW) took us in to the studio, and showed us all the ins and outs of programming a rock radio show. We even recorded our own BGC promo that Jimmy played live on the air. It was awesome! Here’s some pics…

Valentine’s Day Extravaganza

A group of our 7th Grade girls, affectionately known as the “Super Seven,” hosted a special Valentine’s Day Extravaganza last Friday night for 6th and 7th grade club members and students at Fox Lane Middle School. The party featured dancing in our gym with a live DJ (Thanks Josh!) and refreshments in the main hallway of the BGC. It was lots of fun! Here are some more pics…
